FAQ of GigE Vision

1. Is GigE Vision a special connector type on this cable?

No. GigE Vision is a machine-vision interface standard based on Gigabit Ethernet, not a physical connector type. This cable uses standard 8P8C RJ45 connectors, with a 90° up molded connector and horizontal locking screws on the camera side.

 

2. Does the 90° up design reduce GigE Vision transmission speed or image quality?

No. The upward connector direction is a mechanical design and does not inherently reduce transmission speed. Connection quality depends on the cable’s Cat5e electrical performance, connector termination, and the configuration of the complete network.

 

3. Does this GigE Vision cable require a special driver or firmware?

The cable itself is passive and requires no driver, firmware, or separate configuration. The camera and host computer still need compatible GigE Vision software, network settings, and camera drivers.

 

4. Which model number identifies this 90° up GigE Vision cable?

The product family model is OLA-GIGE-7-1-2-XM, where the length replaces “X.” For example, the 3 m version is identified as OLA-GIGE-7-1-2-3M.

 

5. Are the horizontal screw rods included with this GigE Vision cable?

Yes. The bill of materials lists two M2.0 × 0.4 screw rods with a specified length of 4.75 mm. They are integrated into the screw-lock connector assembly and do not need to be ordered separately.

 

6. Can this GigE Vision cable lock onto a camera with vertical screw holes?

Not securely. This connector uses a horizontal screw arrangement, so its screws will not align with a camera interface designed for vertical locking screws. The RJ45 plug may still fit if sufficient clearance is available, but the screw-locking function cannot be used.
